Since 2014, we have encouraged heritage sites to empower young people, get to know this audience and shake up their content in our annual event.

This year’s Digital Takeover Day included some of the UK’s most famous heritage sites, including the National Portrait Gallery, National Archives and Museums & Galleries Edinburgh. Participants were even as far afield as Qatar and Delaware in the USA!

Over 660 young people of all ages were involved, from primary pupils and Scouts to university students. They shared their favourite places and objects, helped museums to improve their offer for young people, created TikTok content, hosted behind-the-scenes tours and much more!
