Following a competitive application process, Morrigan Mason has joined the Kids in Museums Board.

Morrigan has been Museums Development Manager for Carmarthenshire County Council since 2016, where she has been responsible for developing and delivering the museum service transformation. Her varied role includes managing capital projects, using collections for social good and place branding through engagement with culture and heritage.

Morrigan started her career in the education department at Manchester Art Gallery and attributes her passion for growing museum community connections to the inspiring and creative approaches pioneered by the gallery.

Morrigan was previously Deputy Director at Bodelwyddan Castle for 11 years, an independent museum and regional partner of the National Portrait Gallery. She oversaw organisational change that embraced creative family friendly interpretation, programming and operations, and sustained community interventions to promote mental wellbeing.

Morrigan was born and raised in Wales and volunteers with Girlguiding Cymru in her spare time. She is also a trustee of the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales, the membership body representing the voice of sector.

Emmajane Avery, Chair of Kids in Museums, said: “We are delighted to welcome Morrigan to Kids in Museums. Her wealth of experience supporting the development of heritage sites in Wales will be a great asset to our Board and to the Welsh museums that we support.”

Our work in Wales is generously funded by the Welsh Government.

Kids in Museums is governed by a board of 13 trustees, including two Young Trustees, who lend their expertise to shape the future direction of the charity. For more information about the Kids in Museums Board, please see our Trustees page.
