The Robert Burns Ellisland Trust operates the Museum and Farm built by the poet Robert Burns near Auldgirth in Dumfriesshire. It is the best preserved of all the poet’s homes and he built it to his own design in 1788. It is the place he wrote Tam o Shanter, Auld Lang Syne and a quarter of his musical output. The trust’s charitable purposes are education and the promotion of the life and work of Robert Burns including through the maintenance of a public museum.
