We need your support to help make all museums in the UK as welcoming as possible to children, young people and their families.
Understanding and solving the problem of why many young people and their families don’t visit museums is complex. There are many barriers to their involvement, from practical things like the cost of tickets to the availability of events and activities for children and families. It’s too big a problem to be taken on by a single museum and it needs a national solution that works for museums of all shapes and sizes.
That’s where Kids in Museums can help. We have a national perspective and a track record for working with museums of all shapes and sizes to improve their welcome for children, young people and families. Our past experience tells us that simple, low cost solutions such as our Manifesto or Takeover Day are often the most effective. With your support, we can ensure our work reaches more museums and continue to create new programmes and resources that help improve museums for children, young people and families.
How you can help us
Although we are fortunate to benefit from annual funding from Arts Council England, Kids in Museums still needs to raise at least £50,000 every year to continue our work to make museums across the UK friendly and welcoming for children, families and young people.
It’s quick and simple to support our work and all gifts large or small have an impact:
- £5 funds one young person to be involved in Digital Takeover Day
- £10 supports one young person to participate in Takeover Day
- £25 makes Takeover Day packs for one museum
- £50 enables one family to be undercover judges for the Family Friendly Museum Award.
