We offer a range of short and long-term flexible volunteering opportunities.

Whether you are experienced in working with our audiences in a museum, heritage or cultural context, or just starting out, there’s usually a role to suit you.

We are happy to cover travel expenses up to £20 and lunch costs up to £10.

Please note we can occasionally accommodate student placements for young people aged 18 and over. Please email [email protected] with information about your placement and we will aim to respond to any requests within two weeks.

Kids in Museums Youth Panel Member

Would you like to help Kids in Museums make museums and galleries better for young people?

This is a voluntary opportunity for anyone aged 18-25 who is passionate about heritage and wants to make a difference for other young people. It offers the chance to develop new skills including social media marketing, event planning, budgeting, working as a team and collaborating with arts and heritage professionals.

You don’t need any particular skills or experiences to join. As part of our Youth Panel you’ll be able to gain skills for your CV, be part of amazing programmes like Takeover Day, when young people take over museum jobs for a day, help us develop exciting new projects and meet other friendly interesting people.

What you need to know:

  • You don’t need to be based in London we can be flexible about meeting in person or virtually.
  • We will meet once a month for two hours. There will be additional hours during event delivery in August and November.
  • We will cover your travel expenses and provide refreshments if we are meeting in person.
  • You can be a member for up to two years.
  • We will make sure you’re supported and receive any skills training you need during your time with the Youth Panel.

You can apply by submitting a short written statement or two minute film by 5pm on Friday 28 June.
