About this event

Kids in Museums Takeover Day is when museums, galleries, historic homes, archives and heritage sites invite young people to take over jobs normally done by adults for the day. This year Takeover Day is on Friday 18 November.

The theme for our Takeover Day in 2022 is wellbeing. We want to highlight the important role museums can play in supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing. After the challenges of the last two years, it is more important than ever to provide meaningful experiences and support young people’s creative ideas, allowing them to shape what they want to see from museums.

In this session, we will:

  • provide a range of ideas to inspire your own wellbeing themed Takeover Day by local children and young people
  • hear a case study from Royal Pavilion & Museums Trust about their wellbeing themed Digital Takeover Day in July 2022
  • create opportunities for attendees to informally share their ideas and other projects they have undertaken around wellbeing.

Take a look at the full schedule.

Please bring along your own cuppa and snacks!
