We value our volunteers and the contribution they make to our organisation. Could you help Kids in Museums? Volunteers are central to the work that we do and help us in all kinds of ways. Could you talk to your local museum about the Manifesto? Or spare a couple of hours to help in the office? Or are you looking for a bigger volunteering opportunity, like working on our website?
Kids in Museums is looking for a volunteer Commissioning Editor for its website features. This would involve suggesting and commissioning features, as well as informing our wide network of reviewers about upcoming exhibitions, events, publications etc.
The Commissioning Editor will not only be responsible for generating copy but also for overseeing the content – for example, to check if we have a good geographical spread of news and commission for any gaps. See www.kidsinmuseums.org.uk – the News and Reviews section – to get an idea of the sort of content we’d like to develop.
This is a role that could be done remotely. We estimate it will take a few hours a week. We have a Reviews Editor who will continue to edit the reviews and features and a Website Editor who loads on the content. If you think you have the time and are interested, just email getintouch@kidsinmuseums.org.uk letting us know a little bit about yourself.
If you would like to apply for a volunteer post, please email getintouch@kidsinmuseums.org.uk and include a CV. Thanks.
