Britain’s Biggest Museum Award gets even BIGGER!
It’s been the biggest ever year for nominations for the Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award. We’re buried in nominations of all shapes and sizes – shoeboxes full of enticing little objects made on a museum visit, email messages about the fabulous welcomes families have received, CDs filled with photos of all the exciting and innovative family friendly museum activities. Thanks for all your ideas and inspiration.
What Happens Next?
A distinguished panel of judges will wade through the nominations and come up with a short list – a very difficult task! This shortlist will be announced in the Guardian and on our website www.kidsinmuseums.org.uk in late October. This shortlist will then be road-tested by families, unannounced to the museums. These families will decide the winning museum using the 2009 Kids in Museums Manifesto as a guide.
If you’d like to be considered as a judging family for the Award, or know someone who would, just email award@kidsinmuseums.org.uk and we’ll get back in touch.
The winner will be announced in the Guardian and receive 500 Folded Sheet Mammoth Activity Sheets, especially designed as first prize for the Award.
We still have a few Quentin Blake illustrated Award posters left, so if you’d like one just email award@kidsinmuseums.org.uk and we’ll pop one in the post.
