Bestselling children’s author Damian Dibben will team up with teenagers in Thetford next week for the national launch of Kids in Museums Takeover Day.
Ancient House, Museum of Thetford Life will host the national launch of Takeover Day in Museums, run by the charity Kids in Museums, on Saturday, 24 May, together with a dozen teenagers from the town’s Teenage History Club.

Visitors to the museum on the Saturday afternoon (24 May) will have the chance to meet Damian, listen to him reading excerpts of his History Keepers’ series and buy signed copies of his books.
In the morning’s activities, members of the Teenage History Club will create a trail aimed specifically at young people visiting the museum. Their list of top 10 tips for creating a teenager’s trail will also will also be circulated to museums nationally.

“I am sure it will be a thrill for members of the Teenage History Club to meet this renowned author, and they will treasure the experience.”
Oliver Bone, Curator of Ancient House, Museum of Thetford Life said: “I am proud of the wonderful work done with children and young people at the museum, and delighted to be involved in this launch.

Damian said: “I grew up in London and was lucky enough to be taken to a museum nearly every week, sometimes to two or three!”
“Those visits opened up a world of wonder and completely shaped by life. That’s why I am so passionate about Kids in Museum – so other kids can have the same opportunities that I had.”
